Hello and welcome! Barney Nuttall is an award-nominated freelance journalist, writer, and editor. Dedicated to the arts and a huge film fan, Barney is currently working on a feature about Richard Linklater's Slacker and working his way through Akira Kurosawa's samurai films.Barney started his career serving as deputy editor-in-chief at STRAND Magazine from 2023-24. Voted as the best specialist publication at SPA 2024, STRAND catapulted Barney into his successful freelance career of today. He also interned with Little White Lies at TCO Publishing, contributing reviews and features to the website.As well as writing, Barney also copywrites the newsletters for the Bath Archaeo-Heritage Film Festival and is a voluntary editorial assistant at the brilliantly irreverent Beneficial Shock! Creator of the STRAND Magazine Newsletter, a monthly round-up of upcoming events, social opportunities and content highlights produced by STRAND.Barney is responsible for the Bath Archaeo-Heritage Film Festival's monthly newsletter and other promotional copy. Thanks to targeted campaigns and his engaging style, the festival saw an uptick in ticket sales. Barney is well-versed in managing social media campaigns and upkeeping an active online presence. One of the biggest initiatives Barney worked on at STRAND involved reviving the publication's socials. By commissioning uniform templates to use on Instagram and X, Barney helped the publication maintain a reliable output of content and promotion, earning STRAND an SPA nomination for best digital media.Barney currently co-manages socials for film magazine Beneficial Shock!
