
Hello and welcome! Barney Nuttall is an award-nominated freelance film writer and journalist. Primary interests lie in silent cinema, horror and cult film, as well as queer and phenomenological approaches to the cinema. Barney is currently working through Slant Magazine's list of 100 Essential Films while shovelling popcorn at Brighton's own, Duke's at Komedia Cinema.
Barney started his career serving first as film editor, then as deputy editor-in-chief, at STRAND Magazine from 2023-24. Voted as the best specialist publication at SPA 2024, STRAND catapulted Barney into a successful freelance career. He also interned with Little White Lies at TCO Publishing, contributing reviews and features to the website as well as assisting with organising a sell-out event screening in collaboration with Disney.As well as writing, Barney also served as the marketing coordinator for the Bath Archaeo-Heritage Film Festival, and has previously volunteered for the London Experimental Film Festival and Beneficial Shock! Magazine.
